Alright Alright. Where are my parents who love being able to bake cookies for their kids but don’t have time to make them from scratch? (Me!) These cookies are for you! They only take a few ingredients, and you can just throw it all in the bowl, mix it up, and voila! You have soft, chewy and delicious cookies!
Cake mix cookies might actually be one of the best-kept baking shortcuts. They are so delicious and a great recipe for your kids to start with if they love to cook! We can easily change the flavors (I love those lemon cookies!), and you can always add sprinkles, chocolate chips, or even add delicious frosting on top. Trust me. You will never go back after trying these chocolate chip cookies!
Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies Ingredients
This recipe uses only 5 ingredients. It doesn’t get much easier than that! These cookies turn out soft and chewy and you’ll think they were made entirely from scratch! See the recipe card at the bottom of the article for exact measurements.
- Chocolate Cake Mix: It’s the secret ingredient that makes this recipe so chocolatey and easy!
- Baking powder: This helps the cookies rise and have a soft texture.
- Vegetable oil: This makes the cookies nice and chewy.
- Eggs: Let your eggs sit and come to room temperature before mixing them.
- Chocolate chips: You can use chocolate or semi-sweet. The one you prefer!

- Preparation: Preheat the oven to 350℉ and line two baking sheets with parchment paper, then set them aside.
- Combine: In a large bowl, stir together cake mix, baking powder, vegetable oil and eggs until thick batter forms. Then add the chocolate chips and mix until they are evenly dispersed in the batter.
- Scoop: Use a cookie scoop to scoop the cookie dough onto the baking sheets, leaving at least 2 inches between the cookies.
- Bake: Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are set. If using a large cookie scoop, the cookies may need 19-11 minutes for the edges to set. The center of the cookies will appear undercooked, but they will continue to cook as they cool. Overcooking will result in crispy cookies. Remove to a cooling rack and let cool completely.
